Stainless Cookware PanFound pretty much in every corner of your kitchen, stainless steel cookware and utensils are a staple. Not only are they good looking and functional, but they last throughout the years. Here’s a little inside into why you should use stainless steel cookware and why you shouldn’t as well as a little information about stainless steel itself.

Main Uses

Mostly, cooks both at home and in restaurants, use stainless steel pots and pans for searing meats, cooking vegetables and for boiling pasta and potatoes. They can also be used when making any type of broth, whether it be chicken broth or a vegetable broth.

Another really important thing to keep in mind is that if you love browning meats, you’re going to need a stainless steel pan as most other types just won’t do the trick.

Types Of Stainless Steel

When purchasing stainless steel, it’s important to look at each type available. They do all differ and some are better than others, depending on how and what you’re cooking. Titanium is best for everyday use, copper is great for preventing hot spots and helping to create a more even cooking environment and lastly, nickel-free is best for those who have a sensitivity.

It’s also better to purchase pots and pans that are thicker as sadly there are some cheap stainless steel options in the market today that just aren’t worth your money.

Reasons To Use Stainless Steel Cookware

There are many advantages to using stainless steel over other pot and pan types. Here are a few of the top reasons:

  • Stainless steel doesn’t add any extra unwanted flavors into your dish.
  • There are many different options available, making it so that you can choose the best for your needs and kitchen space.
  • Stainless steel is both durable and long lasting.
  • High quality stainless steel pots and pans cook evenly, preventing hot spots.

Reasons Not To Use Stainless Steel Cookware

On the other hand, there are a few reasons why you might not want to use stainless steel cookware.

  • Don’t use if you’re buying low quality and cheap stainless steel as it won’t cook food evenly.
  • Don’t use if you don’t like to preheat pans first.
  • Don’t use if you’re prone to scratching cookware, as stainless steel cookware does and will scratch easily.

Types of stainless steel cookware to purchase

Now that you know a little more about the ins and outs of stainless steel cookware, it’s time to look at what types and sizes to get. Remember, you’ll want to buy the best that your budget allows, as cookware does come in bad, good and great. The better your cookware, the better you meal will turn out.

  • Quart saucepans with lids- these come in a variety of sizes.
  • A skillet- also known as a frying pan, these are great for eggs and omelets.
  • Saute pan with lid- you’ll use this for almost everything, including sauces.
  • Stockpot- this will be used for larger amounts of soups, pasta and sauces.

Depending on what you like to cook on a regular basis, the above should cover all your needs and help to get, and keep, you excited about preparing at home meals instead of eating out.
